When I saw this ingredient on hair products I was surprise, I love YUCA, We eat yuca or cassaba with any meet, I love Yuca, lol, so, I research and found out we are not talking about the same Yucca.
Yucca: is a genus of perennial shrubs and trees in the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Agavoideae. ts 40-50 species are notable for their rosettes of evergreen, tough, sword-shaped leaves and large terminal panicles of white or whitish flowers. They are native to the hot and dry (arid) parts of North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. Early reports of the species were confused with the cassava (Manihot esculenta).[ Consequently, Linnaeus mistakenly derived the generic name from the Carib word for the latter, HELLO.. I was very confuse…
Yucca roots have been used by Native American tribes for years to prevent hair loss and dandruff while making hair shiny and beautiful. Yucca root makes a great shampoo and soap because it contains natural saponin which is an all natural detergent that softly lathers when agitated with water.
you can make you own Yucca shampoo:
- Choose a young yucca plant to make your yucca shampoo with.
- Dig up the yucca root from the plant in your garden or pot. You can also purchase yucca roots from a natural food store.
- Cut off a piece of the root. Peel off the brown outside layer of the root until the clean white root inside is exposed.
- Chop the white root into small pieces and put the pieces into a blender. Mix until the root has become pulp and has changed from a white color to pale amber color.
- Spread out the pulverized root onto a clean surface and let it set in the sun to dry out. Let it dry out until all the moisture has evaporated from the root and it no longer feels sticky.
- Place a small amount of the pulp into a draw string cheesecloth bag and pull the string tight to close it.
- Wet the cheesecloth bag and squeeze it to dispense the lather and use it to wash your hair.
UFFF.. don’t wanna do that, you can try the whole line of sheamoisture yucca & baobab or try this one
Tu puedes hacer tu propio shampoo:
