Photographing curly hair | El cabello Rizado y las fotografías.

Here’s the thing, I have to take a lot of pictures of my hair all the time, I just have to – and I like to- but photographing curly hair can be a struggle. This is real people, and only women with curly hair will understand that we look amazing in person and a terrible, hot mess on camera.

I look at myself in the mirror and I love what I see, time for selfies. But no, the camera doesn’t agree and doesn’t get along with my mirror. As many of you may notice, I was on vacation on the beautiful and totally new Nickelodeon Hotel in Punta Cana with my family. Seriously guys, this hotel is just gorgeous and perfect if you are traveling with kids but at the same time you want to have some me time.

Any way, I decided that I want to take some pictures, I even posted stories on snapchat. I looked beautiful and my hair was “perfect”. But out of 150 pictures, these pictures right here are the most decent one (but by the way, I don’t really like the way my hair looked in any of them).

The problem with this photo shoot and I can tell you right now, was the wind and the humidity. Plus, my photographer wasn’t the best one, he didn’t quite understand how curly hair worked.

I promise I will get an interview with one of the best photographers in LA that works with women of color all the time. Hopefully she can bring some wisdom on how to take good pictures of ourselves that reflect what we see in the mirror.

Aquí está el problema, como ya sabrán, yo tengo que tomarme muchas fotos constantemente y todas son de mi cabello, pero no se a quien mas le pasa que el cabello aveces no cooperar y vemos una belleza en el espejo pero en las fotos son un desastre.

Me miro en el espejo, me digo a mi misma ” que bello peinado” hora de una selfie. Pero la cámara tiene otros planes y parezco una loca en esa foto. Como saben las que me siguen en snapchat, estuve de vacaciones familiares en el nuevo Hotel Nickelodeon de Punta Cana, un hotel precioso, perfecto para ir en familia en donde grandes y chicos se divierten por igual, y decidí el tomarme unas fotos.

Pero la cámara tenia otros planes. Les cuento que de 150 fotos, estas que vez acá son las únicas que pude salvar y en donde mi cabello se ve mas o menos bien.

El viento y la humedad no son buenos amigos del cabello rizado y esa combinación no favoreció lo que estaba planeado a ser una buena sección. La poca experiencia del fotógrafo trabajando con mujeres con el cabello rizado fue otro factor que influyo en que las fotos no fueran de mi agrado.

Prometo conseguir una entrevista con una de los mejores fotógrafas de Los Ángeles que trabaja con mujeres de color todo el tiempo y entiende como funciona el cabello rizado, para que nos de unos tips de como tomar buenas fotos que reflejen la imagen que vemos en el espejo.
