My personal Experience with Invisalign vs Braces

If there is one person that can give the real difference between Invisalign and braces it’s me, why? Because I had them both, my older daughter, Dafne, used braces, and my youngest, Liah, had Invisalign, so I know all the differences between them both and this is my personal experience with Invisalign vs. Braces..
1.- Price. For some reason the main question I got all the time is the price, a l0t of people think that Invisalign is more expensive than braces and it’s nothing far from the truth. It is really important that you visit an orthodontist to give a quote, click HERE to find one near you.
Just a quick personal Braces story: After visiting like 10 Doctors in my area, I ended up with the one that I thought was the best for my daughter, because he didn’t want to remove any of her teeth. But, he said she would need 2 stages. Stage one was $3,500 and stage 2 another $3,500 for a total of $7,000- way more than Invisalign.
2.- Time. Dafne’s two stages took more than 4 years. Stage one- 2 years plus 3 months with retainers, then stage two almost 2 years..
Liah wore a teeth expanders for 3 months and her Invisalign treatment was less than 2 years.
3.- Pain. Even though I can’t speak for my daughters, I am a mom and I know and saw how miserable Dafne was and Liah never complained at all. Me, I did feel a little pain, specially when I had to change my aligners, but nothing compared with the pain I felt with braces. So much pain that after one year I went to my Doctor, and told him that those wires didn’t fit my lifestyle and to have them removed.
4.- Convenience. If you or your kids are into sports, acting, cheerleading etc. Invisalign is definitely for you. Since, you can remove your aligners, you can pretty much keep your normal activities without people even knowing that you are fixing your teeth. This for me, is priceless.
5.- Hygiene. ok this is my favorite, I swear we’ve never ever had a dental hygiene like we have now. Because you have to brush your teeth after eating and put your Invisalign aliners back on, we have developed a good hygiene that ended up with not only whiter but also healthier teeth, which saved my family a lot of money.
I don’t even want to talk about the moment that Dafne’s braces were removed, I don’t even want to think about it and all the money it cost me to have her teeth white and healthy again.
I am a member of the Invisalign Mom Advisory Board and I have received complimentary treatment from the makers of Invisalign clear aligners, full disclosure: http://shout.lt/ggGP
