Why Fixing Crooked teeth is more than beauty
I knew that I wanted my daughter’s crooked teeth fixed, and it was a pure matter of beauty, I want her to have a pretty smile, to be confident, and not worry about her teeth. Time passed and fixing her teeth became more than a matter of a beautiful smile. Let me tell you Liah’s story of years of living with a bumb in her lower lips called mucocele.
Mucoceles are common lesions in children and adolescents that result from the rupture of a salivary gland excretory duct. Most mucoceles are well-circumscribed bluish translucent swellings that are firm to touch, although some may range from normal in color to having a white surface. Mucoceles are frequently found on the lower lip, but can also be found on the lining of the cheeks, the inside of the lips, under the tongue, the floor of the mouth, or in the space behind the last natural molar. Superficial mucoceles burst spontaneously and heal within a few days. Many lesions, however, require treatment to minimize the risk of occurrence, like in Liah’s case, so I had to take her to have it removed by a specialist doctor.
Liah’s mucocele was caused by the constant friction of her crooked teeth to her lower lips, the mucocele varied in sizes and color throughout the past year to a point where it was noticeable and she started to constantly be asked about it by her friends causing very embarrassing moments. I was afraid to remove it before because the chance that it would come back was pretty high, until her teeth were fixed. Now she is a couple months into the Invisalign treatment, her Orthodontist recommended that for her particular case it was time to have it removed. 
The procedure took like 30 minutes, the doctor used local anesthesia then closed the incision with sutures that dissolve on their own. She is totally fine now after 4 days after her surgery over the weekend, on Monday, one of her friends asked her about her bump, lol and she happily said that it was gone. The last picture at the top was only 2 days ago.
