Box Braids is a type of hair extension which is rapidly growing in popularity, specially in the natural hair community, some use it as a protective style for several months until their own natural hair grows.  For some Naturalista short hair is not an option, If you are one of them, hair extension are a good option; in this post we are focusing on Box Braids, they look good, are easy to take care of, are low maintenance and they help your hair grow.
Box Braids are braids that are braided by four strands and make the shape of a box. 
  • They take anywhere from 3-8 hours to put in depending on how big and long they are.
  • They’re moderately expensive to get at a salon but pretty easy to learn how to do at home according to some girls; a lot of youtube video about it .
  • You can use human or synthetic hair to do them depending on how you want the finished style to look.
  • Take between 2-4 packs of hair depending on the size of the braids.
  • You can leave the ends out or have them braided all the way down.
  • They’re very easy to take out.
They last several weeks when they are properly maintained, here are some tips
It is very important to use braid spray and light oils every day to keep them moist and prevent an itchy scalp.
It is not recommended to wear them longer than 6-8 weeks.
A good trim after you take the braids out will keep your natural hair in good health.
Super tight braids can lead to a major problem like traction alopecia and can destroy your hairline.
Wash your hair once a week.
Sleep with a silk or satin scarf tied around your braids at night to keep them smooth, frizz and lint free.

Box braids are an excellent protective style when done correctly with the appropriate technique. If adding hair, its important to be mindful of the size of the part (you dont want parts that are too small), how much hair is being added (you dont need a lot of hair) and the technique used to attach the hair (I highly recommend the invisible method). This style offers versatility of styling and a break from daily manipulation.
The care for the style is simple. You can shampoo your hair as often as you need, focusing on the scalp. You dont need to use cream conditioners because the product will get caught in the braids. Stick to essential oils and oil based products. These products can be applied directly to the braids and scalp to keep the hair lubricated and protected while in the style. Steam treatments are also excellent to use while the hair is braided for additional moisture to the hair.
 The style lasts for about 8-10 weeks. I highly recommend a touch up for the style where the braids around the perimeter are re-braided after 4-6 weeks.

Box Braids o Trenzas encajadas es un tipo de extensión del pelo que está creciendo rápidamente en popularidad, especialmente en la comunidad de pelo natural, algunas lo utilizan como un estilo de protección durante varios meses hasta que su propio pelo natural crezca. Para muchas  Naturalista no es una opción el llevar el pelo corto, si este es tu caso, entonces, la extensión del pelo son una buena opción, en este post nos estamos centrando en trenzas en Caja, se ven bien, son fáciles de cuidar, son de bajo mantenimiento y ayudar a crecer el pelo.
Las trenzas en caja son trenzas que se trenzan en cuatro capítulos y hacen  la forma de una caja.
Se toma aproximadamente  de 3-8 horas para colocarlas, dependiendo de qué tan grande y largo las quieras.
Son moderadamente caros si las haces en el salón de belleza, pero según algunas chicas bastante fácil de aprender a hacer en casa, y hay una gran cantidad de vídeo de youtube al respecto.

Es una buena idea el despuntar tu pelo natural una vez y te las quites para mantener el buen estado de tu pelo natural.

Lávate el cabello una vez a la semana.
Dormir con un pañuelo de seda o satén atada alrededor de sus trenzas por la noche  evitara  el frizz y que las trenzas cojan pelusa.

Las trenzas en  caja son un excelente estilo de protección cuando se hace correctamente con la técnica apropiada. Si se añade cabello, es importante tener en cuenta el tamaño de la pieza , la cantidad de pelo qie se va a agregar  (no necesitas una gran cantidad de pelo) y la técnica utilizada para fijar el cabello (yo recomiendo el método invisible). Este estilo ofrece la versatilidad de un estilo y una alivio a la manipulación  diaria.
El cuidado de este  estilo es simple. Se puede lavar el pelo con tanta frecuencia como sea necesario,  centrándote  en el cuero cabelludo. No necesita el uso de acondicionadores de crema ya que el producto va a quedar atrapados en las trenzas. Usa los aceites esenciales y productos a base de aceite. Estos productos pueden ser aplicados directamente a las trenzas y el cuero cabelludo para mantener el pelo lubricado y protegido mientras que . Tratamientos de vapor son también excelentes para usar mientras que el pelo esta en  trenzas para la humedad adicional .
Este estilo tiene una duración de aproximadamente 8-10 semanas. Yo recomiendo un retoque re-trenzado después de 4-6 semanas.
