A Perfect 2-Day Wine and Culture Tour in La Rioja!
Looking for a quick getaway? We rented a car and set off from San Sebastian to explore the beautiful La Rioja region. The drive was stunning, although be prepared for tolls and gas expenses – totally worth it!

Day 1: Exploring Laguardia and Haro

First Stop: Bodega Primicia, Laguardia Our first stop was the enchanting town of Laguardia, where we had an amazing tour and wine tasting at Bodega Primicia. Established in the 15th century, it is one of the oldest wineries in the region, offering a rich history along with its exquisite wines. The tour includes a walk through ancient cellars and a tasting session of their best wines. Remember to make a reservation in advance!

Lunch at Marqués de Riscal Next, we headed to Marqués de Riscal for lunch. Designed by the renowned architect Frank Gehry, the winery is a stunning blend of modern art and traditional winemaking. The on-site restaurant offers a delectable menu, perfect for pairing with their renowned wines. After lunch, we enjoyed a fantastic wine tour and tasting, learning about the innovative techniques and rich heritage that make Marqués de Riscal a standout.

Evening in Haro We then checked into our Airbnb in Haro, a town famous for its wineries. The evening was spent tapas and wine hopping – the ambiance was simply amazing! Haro is lively and full of excellent spots to enjoy local wines and delicious tapas.

Day 2: From Haro to Madrid via Logroño

Morning Departure The next morning, we checked out of our Airbnb and headed towards Madrid, with a stop in Logroño.

Stop in Logroño: Calle Laurel In Logroño, we made our way to Calle Laurel for coffee and more amazing tapas. This street is famous for its vibrant atmosphere and delicious food, making it the perfect spot for a leisurely morning.

Dolmen de la Chabola de la Hechicera On our way to Madrid, we made a stop at Dolmen de la Chabola de la Hechicera, a prehistoric burial monument. This ancient site, dating back to 2500-2000 BC, provides a fascinating glimpse into the region’s distant past and is surrounded by picturesque vineyards.

This itinerary offers a mix of scenic drives, historic towns, exquisite wine, and delicious food – a perfect two-day escape to La Rioja!
